Welcome to the 2013 season

Welcome back to the 29th year of the CIFL. Our draw is coming together and we should have the schedule posted here over Easter. Round 1 will kick off on Saturday, 13th April. Between now and then it would be good for all players (new and old) to familiarise themselves with the Rules and Guidelines posted.

This year we warmly welcome 3 new teams to our ranks. The Horomaka Hamstrings join us from Spreydon Baptist, the home of Spreydon Ankle and the Backyard Bandits. Northcity Raranga come to us from Northcity church in Papanui. And U.C.K. come to us from the united Korean churches. They are bringing back some familiar faces from Korean Catholic.

We have to bid farewell to last year’s champions, BCC Powerhouse who are chancing their golden boots in the Canterbury Soccer League. Day of Judgement and La Vida Life Force have also hung up their boots for the season. South City Firsts and Seconds have also combined to form South City United.

We also have a few renamed teams –

Hope Presbyterian (Hornby Presbyterian)
Backyard Bandits (Addington Shmadington)
Nga Toa Whakapono (The Faith Warriors)
Bishopdale Rovers (Reformed Rovers)
The A Team (The Ace Team)

This year we are fielding 3 divisions. Division 1 and 2 will be made up of 6 teams each and will play each other twice this season. Division 3 has 8 teams and will play each other once. After the seventh round a playoff schedule will come together based on team positions on the div 3 table. The points table will still decide the winners at the end of the season.
