Not a good weekend!
The round 5 results have been posted. This was not a good weekend for the CIFL with serious injuries and fights caused by sloppy play! There are some rules which have been clearly laid out on this website since the start of the season. The first line of the page reads
Games are to be played with a Christian spirit.
This is not negotiable. This is a social Christian soccer league and will be played as such by ALL participants. If teams and their players cannot abide the rules of the CIFL then they should make their way to another competition.
We have a ZERO TOLERANCE policy towards violence and any player who assaults another will be immediately ejected from the league.
Communication with the referee is also strictly the duty of the captain. Any arguing with the referee will earn players a 10 minute sin-bin… and you won’t be much help to your team from the side-line.
ZERO TOLERANCE is a policy that was embraced by his CIFL as a non negotable rule. My understanding is this is based purely on “Bible teaching” for which the Churches that form the CIFL rigidly adhear to. Can I say from my involvement as a orgamiser of many years , a duty that is at best burdensome , is made less meaningful by hearing such indisipline behavour. Dave does not need this attention , so lets give back to the league some good news play that we may one day be viewed by the media as a competition worth being involve with. My opinion is that any team that involved should be brought before their peers to face up to such bad behavour ! Sorry if this touched some nerves but the time to deal with this issue is now !
