CIFL Sevens Results
Congratulations to Ox-E-Gen who are the CIFL Sevens champions for the second year running. The rain was already falling as we got started. Thankfully the lousy weather didn’t dampen anyone’s enthusiasm on the day. The teams quickly progressed through their 5 rounds and we proceeded straight through to the finals as the cold easterly began to bite down.
Ox-E-Gen, Ilam Cherubs, Bishopdale Rovers and South City United all made it through to the sudden death semi-finals. The Rovers edged out the Cherubs 1-0 and Ox-E-Gen beat South City with a penalty shoot-out. The final was nil all and came down to a Golden Goal from Ox-E-Gen in extra time.
South City United were the winners of the Challenger Cup with back-to-back wins in the rounds and Elisha Nuttall from South City United was the MVP nominee drawn to win a Pamper Pack break in Hanmer Springs!
A big thank you to everyone who helped out on the day. Especially to the teams that stuck around to clean up afterwards, to Ray and Phil for refereeing the finals and a big thank you to Barry, Rosalie and Mike who stepped up to manage the competition in my absence on the day.
Thank you everyone for another successful season. Have a great summer and we’ll see you next year.
