Format for the day
The competition consists of a single pool of nine teams. Teams will play eight rounds of pool games, with each team receiving one bye during the pool stage. The top two teams at the end of the pool stage will advance directly to the final.
Games are 10 minutes each, played as two 5-minute halves with no half-time break. Teams will change ends at half-time and play will restart immediately. There will be a 5-minute break/buffer between each round to allow teams to get organised and move onto the field.
Four games will be played simultaneously on Fields 1–4. Please make sure your team is ready to play at the allocated field before the scheduled kick-off time.
Each team will be required to provide referees for pool games as allocated by the CIFL Organisers. Referees must wear a bib (supplied by the CIFL Organisers) and have a whistle. All normal CIFL rules apply. This includes our strict code against abuse of players or referees. Any player caught fighting will be immediately ejected from the competition and their team will forfeit the match.
If a team’s allocated referee does not turn up, please use due diligence to ensure the game can still be refereed. Captains are responsible for ensuring their allocated referees know when and where they are required to referee.
The final will be played between the top two teams from the pool. If the final is tied at full time, the teams will play 10 minutes of extra time (5 minutes each way), with a penalty shoot-out deciding the winner if the scores are still tied.
What to bring
Teams should each bring a match ball and a whistle for their referee.
Players should bring their kit, plenty of water and something to eat between matches. Teams should also pack a first aid kit including an ice-pack.
We ask that all teams please take away their own rubbish as a show of respect for the grounds.
Good luck to all teams!
